A whisky club in Red Deer, Alberta, named the way the city was: for the elk that traders took for a Highland red deer. We usually meet on the first Thursday of the month, for five to eight whiskies a night, Scotch most of all.

Five to eight whiskies a night, usually on the first Thursday of the month, with a heavy lean to Scotch.

Bottles the club buys for its members, a benefit Associates share too.

Most nights have a theme: a distillery rep, an independent bottler, or a region to taste through.

A mystery malt poured blind, judged by the room, then revealed. The bottles are already in the club's hands.

Members order by the case at the club's price. A member picks up the cases and hands out the bottles.

New releases, rare finds and good deals, shared in the members' WhatsApp.

Tequila, bourbon and charity tastings, on top of the regular nights.

Whatever is left over at year end goes on rare and exciting whiskies.
